News Research

Welcome

Welcome to our study! This study is part of the PhD research of Jia-Hua Jeng at the University of Bergen, Norway, in collaboration with Gloria Anne Babile Kasangu (UiB) as a coauthor and research assistant. The study is supervised by Prof. Christoph Trattner (UiB) and Assoc. Prof. Alain Dominique Starke (UvA).

In this study, you will explore a news platform that presents articles matching your topical interests. The goal is to understand how people interact with and respond to different presentations of news content. Please be aware that some sections of the study may evoke strong emotions or feelings of discomfort. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without providing a reason.

Procedure

At the start of the study, you will answer a few questions about your demographics and preferences for news topics. You will then interact with a news platform, where you will select a category of interest, such as environment, green living, and weather. The platform will display six previews of news articles that have been randomly assigned to different framing conditions. You will review the article previews and indicate your preferences by selecting the one you would most like to read. After completing this task, you will answer questions assessing your experience. Next, the platform will randomly display two examples of news article previews that have been presented to you. Under each news preview, you will be asked to answer additional questions regarding your pespective for news articles.
